Panama assumes vice-presidency of the ACS

The designation took place during the celebration of the XXV anniversary of the Association of Caribbean States held in Nicaragua

During the recent celebration of the XXV anniversary of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) in Nicaragua, Panama was the country selected to occupy the vice-presidency of said regional organization.

The Central American nation will be responsible for matters related to the integration of the countries of the zone in order to create a scenario of common cooperation in its position as vice president of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the ACS.

The ambassador of Panama in Nicaragua, Eddy Davis Rodríguez, who also holds the position of General Director of Economic Relations of the ACS, highlighted “the importance of building more resilient societies due to their high degree of vulnerability.”

A topic of great importance for the members of the organization is climate change and its consequences as well as the challenges it poses to each nation in the economic, social and environmental sectors.

After his appointment in the vice presidency, the Panamanian representatives ratified their commitment on the issue of climate change as well as the need to implement new policies and projects that reduce the consequences of climate change worldwide.
