Netflix prepares series on Bitfinex scam

The streaming entertainment company plans to produce a documentary based on the Bitfinex exchange hacking case

The Netflix company announced that it will work on the production of a documentary series based on the Bitfinex hacking case, where almost 120,000 bitcoins were stolen.

This production, directed by the American Chris Smith together with Nick Bilton, will focus on the life of the couple in New York and their direct link to the theft of digital assets from the exchange.

“Netflix has commissioned a documentary series about a married couple’s alleged plot to launder billions of dollars in stolen cryptocurrency in the largest financial crime case in history,” the streaming service said.

The plot is based on two main characters, Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, linked to the hacking of 120,000 bitcoins and their involvement in laundering the stolen funds.

It should be noted that the authorities recently found the couple along with almost all of the assets that were stolen in 2016.
