Iran accepts cryptocurrency mining as an industry

Through a report from the Supreme Council of Cyberspace in Iran, it was learned that several government ministries approved the crypto mining as an industry in the country.

The news agency Ibena announced the news this Tuesday, September 4th. Abolhassan Firoozabadi, secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, stressed that they are still working on the regulatory framework that will govern cryptocurrency mining, especially bitcoin. The document could be ready by the end of this month.

Among the ministries that gave their approval are the Information Technology and Communications, Industry, Mining and Commerce, Energy, Economic Affairs and Finance, as well as the Central Bank.

Firoozabadi added that the Iranian government has been working for months on a national cryptocurrency project as a tool for financial cooperation with strategic partners and to confront United States measures.

The president of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, gave his approval to the draft of the cryptocurrency project supported by the state.
