Importance of digital disconnection
World Digital Abstinence Day, or disconnection from current technologies, was celebrated on March 7th. The date, created in 2009 by the non-profit organization Reboot, seeks to showcase the benefits of this practice for the body and mind
Health specialists have shown that technology addictions exist. People can spend hours connected to their cell phones, personal computers, gaming consoles, among others. To raise awareness about this problem, the non-profit organization Reboot launched World Digital Abstinence Day in 2009.
It is celebrated on the first Friday of March every year to promote disconnection from social media, the internet, video games, and even WhatsApp, in order to achieve both a physical and mental break from new technologies.

The original idea is to reduce the impact of technology on daily life, help people better understand digital addictions, and dedicate time to relaxing activities, interacting with others, and outdoor recreation.
Doctors summarize the problems of digital addiction as excessive behavior, anxiety, dry eyes, muscle problems, dissociation from reality, loss of sense of time, and depression. However, there are cases of heart attacks, blood clots, and loss of consciousness that can lead to death as a result of spending hours playing video games.
The modern age is digital and virtual. However, periodic disconnection, or breaks to connect with oneself, other people, and nature, are essential for health.
