Huawei reacts to Google announcements

The company delivered the expected response after Google announced that from now on the Chinese users will lose access to Android

Huawei responded to Google after announcing that the Chinese company will stop receiving support from Android and all its security updates in support of the demands made by the United States government.

In this response, Huawei showed more questions than answers. However, it tried to make the effort to underline that they have also contributed to the growth the Android ecosystem has had during the last years.

It is worth noting that Google informed users who own Huawei equipment that they will be able to maintain access to the Play Store and will be able to continue updating their applications at least in the short term.

Similarly, the company is preparing for eventually losing access to Google and Microsoft software, developing an alternative operating system of its own parallel to Android.

In the statement, the Chinese company says: “Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of the Android ecosystem around the world. As one of the key global partners we have worked closely with its open source platform to develop a system that has benefited both the industry and the users.”
