HTC introduces VR VIVE Pro 2 and VIVE Focus 3 headsets with LCD panels

The helmets will also come with 5K resolution as well as a 120 degree field of view

HTC has presented the new virtual reality headsets Vive Pro 2 and Vive Focus 3 that introduce 5K resolution, 120 degrees of field of view and dual LCD panels.

The company has highlighted that the Vive Pro 2 has a wide range of interpupillary distance (IPD), adjustable for “optimal visual comfort”, and a sizer to adjust the head quickly, as it has shared on Twitter. They also include an adjustable lens and headphones.

Vive Pro 2 improves on the features of the 2018 Vive Pro, as described by HTC on the Vive website. Thus, it offers a 5K resolution of 2448 x 2448 pixels (p) per eye, with a combined resolution of 4896 x 2448p.

This resolution, along with a “super smooth” refresh rate of 120 Hz and 120 degree field of view, is above 2,880 x 1,600p resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate and 110 degrees of field vision of the Vive Pro.

In addition, the helmet includes high resolution 3D sound, dual microphone and works with headphones from other brands. It also allows the use of Vive SteamVR accessories, Vive Tracker facial recognition peripherals, and SteamVR controllers and accessories. The glasses include two RGB low-resistance LCD screens, compared to OLEDs on the previous model.
