Google application will help free mobile storage space
Google's new feature called application file is focused on freeing up 60 % of the space occupied by apps on the mobile
Google has introduced a new feature with which it seeks to prevent the uninstallation of applications to free up memory space on the mobile device, instead offering its archiving and thus obtaining up to 60 percent of the space they occupy.
The apps archive is a new feature that frees up space without removing the ‘app’ entirely. Instead, parts of the app are removed and remain on the device until the user needs it and updates it to the latest version.
The technology company promises to free up to 60 percent of the space they occupy on the mobile with this function still in development, as stated in a statement. In its roadmap, Google plans to bring it to consumers “later” this year, but will make it available to developers with the release of Bundletool 1.10.
Google sees advantages in this new approach for both users and developers. “Instead of uninstalling an app, users could ‘archive’ it, temporarily free up space, and quickly and easily reactivate the app. Developers can benefit from fewer uninstalls and substantially less friction to get back to their favorite apps.”
