Facebook slows the launch of new products

The social network wants to spend some time analyzing the impact that these could have on users, as well as the effects on minors

Facebook recently stopped the launch of new products to spend time analyzing the reputation they will have among its users and assessing aspects such as their effect on minors.

The social network has prepared a team of more than a dozen people that works to anticipate possible criticism that upcoming products may have and anticipate possible negative impacts on children.

This measure has been released just a week after the US company decided to pause the development of its version of Instagram for children under 13 years old and announced its plans to collaborate with parents, experts, administrations and regulators to hear their opinions.

In this case, the products have not been paused, but rather slowed down a bit and before their arrival the company will carry out a series of analyzes, including reputational analyzes, to avoid later problems.

The decision is motivated by the growing scrutiny in international media such as WSJ and the appearances in the United States Congress related to the existence of internal reports that warned of the negative effects of its tools, such as Instagram, on adolescent girls with body image problems due to to comparison.
