Facebook launches a new generation of smart screens
The social network now have a tool that will be used to make video calls with the new assistant "Hey Portal"
Facebook presents the new generation of its Portal smart screens intended for video calls, as well as an smart camera, with the new assistant Hey Portal integrated.
Facebook announced through a statement the arrival of its new Smart Portal and Mini Portal screens for video calls and viewing images and videos in vertical or horizontal mode. Portal has a 10-inch screen and Mini with an 8-inch screen.
Both have an adaptable monitor that adjusts the brightness and color of the surroundings. The Super Frame mode is the one that the device enters when a video call is not being made and photos or videos are being displayed. The two models also integrate a speaker with which you can also listen to music.
Both devices also have an integrated smart camera that uses artificial intelligence to move and zoom in the user during video calls, so that if it moves the camera will remain within the frame. In addition, it includes an smart sound system that “improves the voice of the speaker while minimizing unwanted background sounds,” according to the company.
The new models incorporate a new function that allows these video calls to be made through WhatsApp, in addition to Messenger, which is the application used to make them so far. “All WhatsApp calls on the Portal are encrypted from start to finish,” they say in the company regarding privacy. In addition, they include the Story Time feature that allows you to see stories with animation, music and augmented reality effects.
As a novelty, the new devices include the voice assistant Hey Portal which is currently only available in English in the United States and Canada, although they ensure that it will be available in other languages later. For its part, all devices also have the Amazon Alexa Assistant integrated.
