MediaTek announces its first 5G laptop modems
The new devices that will revolutionize the market are expected to be available in 2021
Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek on Thursday announced its first 5G modems for computers, MediaTek T700 5G, which allow notebook PCs with Intel processors to connect to the Internet over 5G data networks.
MediaTek T700 5G allows connection to both SA Sub-6 type 5G networks as well as non-independent ones. Its operation is integrated with Intel processors and is optimized for them, as the Asian company announced in a statement .
MediaTek’s new 5G computer modems provide “consistently faster connection speeds and more secure connectivity” and are also designed with “high energy efficiency,” according to the manufacturer.
The first laptops equipped with 5G solutions developed by Intel and MediaTek, such as the new MediaTek T700 5G modems, will hit the market early next year 2021.
