The social network Facebook announced the new name of its cryptocurrency Libra. The association now called Diem Network will promote the Diem Dollar digital currency.
According to the report published by the company, the measure was taken with the intention of obtaining more recognition in the regulatory sphere and thus obtaining more independence in the project.
Since Facebook announced the launch of Libra, regulatory problems have increased, due to the concern of central banks claiming that it could alter financial stability and destabilize their monetary policy.
Among the changes generated, there is also a reestablishment in the hiring of new professionals who will be at Diem’s service, among which are Stuart Levey, CEO of the Diem Association.
Said company stated “it will continue to pursue a mission to build a safe, secure and compatible payment system that empowers people and companies around the world.”
