Expedia removes Bitcoin payment option

Travelers who wish to book through the site do not count on the payment option for the cryptocurrency

The clients of the travel booking website Expedia.com do not have the option of payments in Bitcoin since the beginning of June. Spokesmen of the company have offered apologies to the public for the inconveniences that the measure may cause.

The community of users of the site to book and cancel their flights for holidays or business as well as hotel reservations, has shown their annoyance through negative comments on social networks, given the fact it is an online platform.

Many customers are currently receiving their salary in Bitcoin and benefited from the possibility to make corresponding payments on Expedia.com with this cryptocurrency. However, they no longer have the option and are considering to migrate to other similar alternatives.

Expedia launched the payment option for services in Bitcoin in 2014, after a successful partnership with the crypto exchange platform Coinbase. CheapAir did the same a year before and currently operates through BitPay.

The customers of Expedia are in the search of options for reservations and payments of flights and hotel lodging after the decision of the company with respect to the transactions with Bitcoin, the strongest digital currency at the moment.
