Bancamiga made a significant donation to the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), aimed at comprehensively modernizing its communications platform and optimizing critical areas of its technological infrastructure, demonstrating its firm commitment to sustainable development, cutting-edge education, and the future of Venezuela, stated José Simón Elarba, Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors.

To date, the UCV community relied on a platform with local servers and outdated open-source collaborative software, with limited capacity that only allowed it to serve administrative and teaching staff.

“Now, with Bancamiga’s support, a complete migration to Google’s global infrastructure will begin. This large-scale modernization project will be implemented progressively over the course of a year, thanks to this donation we have made to UCV to boost the academic activity of one of the region’s most important universities,” explained Elarba.

Impact and transformation

This digital transformation will completely eliminate dependence on hardware and constant software updates, drastically reducing high server maintenance costs.

Google’s platform, widely known worldwide for its proven effectiveness and high security, will benefit an estimated 35,000 users, comprised of 70 % students and 30 % faculty, administrative, and support staff.

Under a single institutional identity, the university community will be able to guarantee access to the system from anywhere in the world.

The donation also included the reactivation of the air conditioning system at the Radio, Television, and Multimedia Management office

The direct impact of this corporate social responsibility contribution from Bancamiga will translate into a qualitative leap for the university. Users will have access to leading Google tools such as Meet, Drive, and Classroom, among others, as well as cutting-edge technologies like Gemini Artificial Intelligence.

The project’s implementation will enhance the scope of research, projects, and daily tasks related to communication, editing, calculation, and audiovisual production for those at UCV, once again positioning the institution at the forefront of education.

Infrastructure restoration

The project financed by Bancamiga also addressed a critical need on campus. The bank assumed responsibility for the maintenance, repair, replacement of parts, and commissioning of 11 central air conditioning units, each with a capacity of 5 tons. These units serve the Radio, Television, and Multimedia Management department, which designs and produces audiovisual content, radio programs, and virtual environments to optimize teaching and learning processes at the institution.

With this strategic alliance, Bancamiga reaffirms its role as a key company with a robust social responsibility program in Venezuela, demonstrating that supporting higher education and bridging the digital divide are fundamental pillars for the country’s sustainable human development.

This strategic alliance has enabled the modernization of equipment, infrastructure improvements, and the strengthening of surgical capacity at one of the country’s most important healthcare centers, benefiting thousands of people who visit this medical institution, Elarba adds.

Since 2023, the financial institution has focused its efforts on equipping the hospital with cutting-edge technology and specialized tools, understanding that health is a fundamental area of ​​care.

“Bancamiga’s history of contributions to the hospital reflects planned management oriented toward the critical needs of the healthcare center, helping to guarantee access to the human right to health,” emphasizes the Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors.

The financial institution began this social responsibility policy with the donation of a translucent surgical bed and a high-tech resectoscope for procedures in the urology and gynecology departments.

The hospital was also provided with 93 pieces of stainless steel surgical instruments (manufactured in Germany) and a specialized kit for the bariatric surgery program. In addition, infrastructure recovery plans were initiated, and direct banking services were provided to medical personnel at their workplaces.

Ongoing support

In 2024, Bancamiga’s efforts focused on two other strategic areas. The institution donated three boxes of specialized surgical instruments for traumatology and orthopedics, areas of extremely high demand in both emergency and elective surgeries.

Another important milestone was the donation of 42 pieces of radiation protection equipment (lead aprons, masks, and goggles, among others), ensuring the safety of medical personnel and patients in the radiology department, as well as during medium- and high-complexity procedures.

The following year, the provision of equipment to the health center included three-position electric beds and multiparameter monitors for monitoring vital signs. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art lesion generator was delivered, enabling pain management through frequency radiation therapy, an innovative therapeutic option for patients at the Domingo Luciani Hospital.

José Simón Elarba emphasizes that “in 2026, Bancamiga maintained its support for the hospital, contributing decisively to the operational efficiency of the surgical area” by carrying out specialized repair and maintenance work on the operating room climate control system.

This project—which included preventive and corrective maintenance of the cooling units—guarantees asepsis and optimal conditions in the surgical area, ensuring the continuity of procedures and the operational capacity of the healthcare center.

“Our mission goes beyond offering financial services. With our social commitment, we seek to positively transform the environment where we operate. The Domingo Luciani Hospital is a benchmark for healthcare, and Bancamiga is proud to invest in the health of Venezuelans and contribute to ensuring that its medical staff has the necessary tools to save lives,” he stated.

“The most important thing is to understand the shift in mindset and narrative. The new narrative is called ‘new longevity,’ and it establishes that we are going to have longer life expectancies.  Therefore, we are entering the world of the silver economy, where age barriers are being broken down, and we are starting to have a dynamic population with increasingly significant purchasing power,” he emphasized.

Parilli pointed out that in Venezuela, 19 % of the population is over 55 years old. This segment represents more than five million people who require products and services tailored to their needs. Furthermore, this population is also capable of offering products and services themselves, leveraging their accumulated life experience.

According to the expert, 55 % of older adults feel that companies do not offer products or services specifically for them, and 61 % identify that the areas of health and well-being have the greatest gap in offerings for this segment of the population.

With the virtual forum “Entrepreneurship After 50,” Bancamiga reaffirms its commitment to economic development and social inclusion, offering tools and knowledge that empower Venezuelan entrepreneurs.

Likewise, the bank gave its support to Senos Ayuda and its breast cancer care programs for vulnerable women. And this non-profit organization raised awareness among the financial institution’s collaborators about the importance of early detection of this disease, which is the leading cause of oncological death in women.

The Bo-K-2 project seeks to empower participants with work skills and train them as entrepreneurs, promoting social and labor inclusion.

María Susana Padrón de Grasso, president of Avesid, explained that the project offers young people the opportunity to train and “obtain resources, contribute to their home and feel like useful people, who have a job and that there is room for everyone.”

With the contribution of Bancamiga, Avesid will have the necessary resources to carry out theoretical and practical workshops, where young people with disabilities will learn culinary techniques, hygiene and food safety standards, menu planning, as well as management of catering businesses, among other aspects.

The initiative “began with the preparation of some wonderful recipes. Now we are going to make recipes with a higher level, which we will offer to the public who wants to help,” said Padrón de Grasso.

Bancamiga successfully held the second virtual forum “Clicks to customers: convert your digital presence into profits”, given by Isa Bermúdez, prominent brand strategist and CEO of the Impacters Group. “We address very interesting topics, such as discovering your talents, monetizing what makes you unique, understanding how to diversify your income, knowing all those digital channels and which ones work for business, how to connect with that ideal client and how to sell more to them. The truth was that it was a particular experience where the participants came away with a lot of knowledge,” said Bermúdez.

The conference was the first online training of Bancamiga’s business development program, aimed at training people with business initiatives, as well as small entrepreneurs who contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

Joco González began his speech by showing practical examples of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support people in their daily tasks. Then it provided valuable content to find innovative and efficient solutions that can be applied in the marketing strategies of the ventures.

“AI is a coming wave. Although it is more than 50 years old, since 2022 it has become something easily accessible to everyone” through “platforms where we interact, chat with it, and it becomes our best ally,” he assured.

In the field of marketing, he highlighted that there are several advances with AI tools that allow personalizing experiences in real time by adapting content, recommendations and specific offers based on customer behavior, preferences and historical data.

Using live tools and responding to participants’ requests for examples, the facilitator demonstrated the use of AI to create names, profile ideal clients, write texts, strategies or proposals, among multiple other applications.

During the activity, he told the attendees that AI must be very good at specifications. You don’t have to settle for the first answers. You have to be increasingly demanding or specific.

“If we ask for something very ambiguous, the artificial intelligence is going to respond with something very ambiguous, and the worst thing is that we are going to love it and I say that, because in truth, we can get more out of it,” the consultant noted.
