Bancamiga and Avesid promote entrepreneurship among young people with disabilities

Bancamiga's contribution is aimed at teaching 35 people culinary skills and creating a microenterprise for food and hydration services for events

Bancamiga supports the work that the Venezuelan Association for Down Syndrome (Avesid) has carried out for more than three decades to improve the quality of life of people who suffer from an intellectual disability, through educational or assistance programs aimed at children, young people and adults.

The President of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, José Simón Elarba, praised the constant work of Avesid and its commitment to the full inclusion of people with Down Syndrome, as well as to the development of their abilities.

“The work they do is impressive. We are all moved by being able to collaborate and make the work they do more viable, which truly helps people who need it,” he said.

To boost the potential and develop the skills of people with disabilities, Bancamiga provided a contribution that covers the cost of an Avesid project aimed at learning culinary skills for 35 young people, as well as creating a micro-enterprise for food and hydration services for events.

Bancamiga and Avesid with the sustainable development of the country

The Bo-K-2 project seeks to empower participants with work skills and train them as entrepreneurs, promoting social and labor inclusion.

María Susana Padrón de Grasso, president of Avesid, explained that the project offers young people the opportunity to train and “obtain resources, contribute to their home and feel like useful people, who have a job and that there is room for everyone.”

With the contribution of Bancamiga, Avesid will have the necessary resources to carry out theoretical and practical workshops, where young people with disabilities will learn culinary techniques, hygiene and food safety standards, menu planning, as well as management of catering businesses, among other aspects.

The initiative “began with the preparation of some wonderful recipes. Now we are going to make recipes with a higher level, which we will offer to the public who wants to help,” said Padrón de Grasso.

Bancamiga’s social responsibility management focuses on contributing to the sustainable development of the country, with the purpose of benefiting the greatest number of people and positively impacting the environment.
