Ecodocta will reward recycling with cryptocurrencies

In Argentina, the Ecodocta initiative is developing a system that rewards people who recycle plastic bottles

The venture has an interest in the care of the environment and is also a way to make use of a cryptocurrency of Argentine origin called Docta. According to Jorge Passetti, co-founder of Ecodocta, the first prototype of the machine that will receive the plastic bottles was completed in December and the first tests were carried out in January.

Docta is a digital currency born in Córdoba, Argentina, with the purpose of encouraging teaching and learning about blockchain and other branches of the cryptographic ecosystem.

Ecodocta and Docta were integrated with the aim of expanding the area of influence of the cryptocurrency, thus achieving the incentive of ecological actions such as the recycling of plastic bottles. The machine will receive bottles and deliver rewards that can be stored in an application for mobile devices.

In the same way, Ecodocta’s medium-term goal is to create a large network of collaborative work between companies, NGOs, society and the State. The end of joint work is to make the positive impact on the environment, society and, in turn, on the economy, ever greater.

Passetti said: “We believe that working together is the best way to turn good projects into something economically and ecologically sustainable.”
