E3 will be held but remotely

The annual E3 video game fair will be taking place remotely, due to the outbreak of the omicron variant in the US.

The world’s most important annual video game fair, E3 in Los Angeles, United States, will celebrate its 2022 edition in digital only format due to concerns about the state of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was announced by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), organizer of the fair, in a statement confirming the cancellation of the face-to-face events initially planned for E3 2022, although the event is usually held in summer.

“Due to the continuing health risks surrounding Covid-19 and its possible impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022,” the organization detailed in the statement.

In this way, it will be the third consecutive edition of the fair that suffers changes due to the pandemic, after the cancellation of its 2020 edition and its celebration last year also in digital only format.

“We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon”, ESA said of this year’s event.
