Second round of elections in Ecuador will be on April 13
Daniel Noboa and Luisa González are going to a second round of elections in Ecuador, scheduled for April 13 due to a difference in the vote count of less than 1 %
This Sunday, February 9, Ecuador experienced the electoral process to decide who will be the new president of the nation, between the current president Daniel Noboa, and his main rival, Luisa González. However, there was a technical tie and there will be a second round on April 13.
Daniel Noboa, who expected to obtain a majority of the votes, achieved 44.3 % compared to 43.9 % for Luisa González. Given the technical tie, both will face each other in a second round in April to decide who will take the reins of Ecuador in the period 2025-2029.
The announcement for the second round on April 13 was made by the president of the National Electoral Council of Ecuador, Diana Atamaint, who referred to the votes obtained by each candidate in the process.
