Dorsey proposes the creation of an algorithm store

The CEO of Twitter proposed to the investors of the company to create a decentralized store, similar to the App Store and Google Play

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey proposed to the company’s investors the idea of creating a decentralized algorithm platform, similar to the App Store or Google Play, in which social media users could choose their own recommendation algorithms and content organization.

Twitter is working on developing tools to give social media users more freedom and customization options, as Dorsey has defended in a meeting with investors.

According to the CEO of the social network, the idea is to create “a platform similar to application stores (such as Google Play or the App Store) for content classification algorithms, which gives people flexibility” to choose how to organize content on social media, a task that until now fell to the companies themselves.

The creation of an algorithm store would allow people to choose the algorithm they prefer, among those created by the social network itself or others developed by third parties. It’s something Twitter could “not only host but also participate in,” according to its CEO.

Dorsey said that giving social media users the freedom to choose their own algorithms “would not only help the business, but would attract more people to participate in social media.”
