Harvard will develop blockchain certification system
The project involves the prestigious university, the clothing brand Levi Strauss & Co. and New America in the design of the blockchain factory security system
Through a strategic partnership between the prestigious Harvard University, the clothing brand Levi Strauss & Co. and experts from New America, the school is working on the design of a factory security system.
The graduate school of public health of the university will develop a blockchain project focused on “replacing external auditors of factory health and safety with the self-report of the workers involved.” The project consists of a plan to conduct an annual survey of workers ” on this platform.
The project represents an advance in the area of evaluation of working conditions in the facilities of the clothing brand Levi Strauss. There are three factories in Mexico with a workforce of 5,000 people. It is in these facilities where they will apply the blockchain survey this year.
Harvard Sustainability and Health Initiative THChan Director said: “Over the last 25 years, work in supply chains has been monitored mainly by audits. A distributed system of consultation on the blockchain that goes directly to the source (workers) and offers a new solution “.
The platform will be supported by ConsenSys. And the financing will be achieved through a grant from the Department of State.
