Community of Aragon will apply blockchain in its public administration

The Spanish Autonomous Community studies the application of blockchain technology in the processes of public administration to enhance its independence and autonomy

The autonomous region of Aragon, one of the 17 that exist in Spain, will be a pioneer in the implementation of blockchain technology in public administration.

The community located to the north of the country seeks to gain greater independence in the various services of the administration and provide autonomy to individuals of different nationalities living in the territory.

Fernando Gimeno, financial affairs advisor to the Aragonese government, said that they have partnered with the company Alastria for the application of decentralized technology. The association will allow them to offer services backed by innovative technologies.

According to Gimeno, the rest of the country will be able to appreciate the benefits of ledger technology, since it opens the possibilities for a “transformation and to create greater transparency and efficiency in the administration of the state. It also has enormous potential to attract new and more investments to the region.”

As a step prior to the adoption of technology in the public administration, a few months ago the supervisor of markets and financial institutions in Spain completed the proof of concept of its new blockchain registration platform based on blockchain in order to save time and resources in the managements.
