The Ukrainian Parliament launches a fiscal bill for cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies have not been approved in Ukraine. However, the Parliament has introduced a new draft tax law related to them for the period 2019-2024 that will establish taxes on legal and natural persons

The Ukrainian Parliament, known as the Verkhovna Rada, issued a new draft tax law that will apply to cryptocurrencies in the next budget period 2019-2024.

Twenty-three government officials participated in the drafting of the document. Among the notorious proposals is the establishment of 5% tax on legal and physical persons involved in the handling of digital currencies and tokens.

In fact, from 2024 all companies related to the crypto ecosystem will be burdened with 18% of taxes. The measure seeks to reduce the high rates of operations of the “gray market” and increase revenues from the state budget.

Although cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin are currently not regulated in Ukraine, after the implementation of the new tax project, interested parties will be able to carry out different transactions.

The authorities continue working on the budget for the period 2019-2024, whose total amount is estimated at 43 million dollars.
