Colombia cryptocurrency bill could be paused

This is the second time that this discussion has been postponed. It should be noted that for it to become a regulatory framework at least two sessions of discussion must be held

This week, a discussion on the cryptocurrency bill for Colombia was scheduled to take place. However, this was postponed.

Horacio Serpa Moncada, Colombian senator, assured that the cancellation of this event is due to the fact that authorities are waiting for a concept that will be indicated by the Financial Superintendence of Colombia.

The document raises the need to regulate the cryptocurrency sector in order to provide rights and obligations to all agents involved in transactions, with prevention of money laundering.

This is not the first time that the meeting has been postponed. On June 6 it was also transferred to another date for discussion in a virtual way.

The initiative requires at least two of four debates to become law, but these discussions must take place before June 20, when the sessions of Congress end. Nevertheless, is looks uphill.

The intervention of the Financial Superintendency of Colombia (SFC) raises the possibility of altering the current version of the project, since the regulatory authority has made it clear in the past that this type of investment is not valid and that operators are not recognized either. they manage them.
