Coffee exports from Brazil increased in August

The main producer and exporter of the item in Latin America reflected an increase in its export of 30.4% compared to the same period of 2017

Brazil is the main producer and exporter of coffee, not only in Latin America but also in the world. During the month of August, the nation experienced an increase in its exports of 30.4% compared to the same period of 2017.

According to the reports of the Council of Coffee Exporters (Cecafé in Spanish), during the past month the billing for export of Brazilian coffee amounted to US $ 470.65 million.

Nelson Carvalhaes, president of Cecafé, said: “The results of Brazilian coffee exports in August presented, as we expected, a very significant growth, registering one of the highest monthly volumes of the last two years.”

Brazil had a good harvest this year. Two key products are the basis of the nation’s current strength. It is Arabica coffee, which had a good performance and coffee canilon, which experienced a marked recovery.

Of the first, 2.5 million bags were exported and of the second, 537 thousand bags. The main destinations of the Brazilian crop have been Germany, Italy and the United States in a distribution of 15.3%, 9.3% and 17.5% respectively.
