China tests digitally managed offshore oil station

The state-owned PetroChina carried out the tests of the first unmanned maritime oil station in Tianjin, in the north of the country

PetroChina, the Asian country’s state oil company, successfully completed tests of a digitally managed offshore oil station; that is, without human personnel.

The company developed this project in the north of China, in Tianjin. It is estimated that the digitally managed remote complex allows savings of approximately 30 % in construction and operations compared to traditional maritime facilities.

The Xinhuanet.com portal collects the impressions of Gao Zhiyong, from PetroChina Dagang Oilfield Company, who has indicated “that this is the company’s first digitized maritime platform.”

The platform is in the Zhaodong oil field. In that region, oil production has remained constant and “successful over the last 30 years”, thanks to the incorporation of new technologies.
