Italy’s largest bank invests $1 million in Bitcoin

Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest bank, has bought over $1 million worth of BTC, making its first foray into the crypto universe

Italy’s interest in cryptocurrencies continues to rise. Recently, Intesa Sanpaolo, the country’s largest bank, invested $1 million in the purchase of Bitcoin, the market’s main digital asset.

In fact, the financial institution is the first in Italy to execute an investment in Bitcoin by acquiring 11 BTC for around €1 million (USD 1.02 million) on January 13.

This initiative by the bank “comes during a period of growing institutional interest in BTC, which saw Bitcoin exchange reserves sink to a near seven-year low on January 13 as cryptocurrency hedge funds bought the dip, reinforcing expectations of a supply shock.”

The fluctuation in the value of the cryptocurrency has been seen by investors as an opportunity to buy, as MicroStrategy has done by acquiring more than $243 million for approximately $95,972.

Analysts remain on the lookout regarding the value of BTC and predict a maximum of over $150,000 by the end of 2025.
