China resumes commercial flights with North Korea

China announced on Monday the authorization of commercial flights with North Korea that had been suspended since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic

The reopening of commercial flights between China and North Korea was announced this Monday, after a long suspension since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the participation of the North Korean airline Air Koryo, travelers between Beijing and Pyongyang will once again be able to travel by air to different destinations in both countries.

According to the details provided by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the operations will be managed according to the guidelines of the authorities of both nations. In this sense, the first commercial flight was supposed to land this Monday in Beijing, but it was suspended at the last minute.

The local North Korean media NK News has reported that “the North Korean state airline has a flight scheduled for this Friday from the Russian city of Vladivostok (east) to Pyongyang, which, if operated, would become the first regular international flight that connect the country with the outside since the beginning of the pandemic”.

The decision to resume commercial flights between China and North Korea is announced after it became known that the gradual reopening of land transit between the two countries.
