BBVA plans to include purchase and sale of bitcoin as a service

The Spanish consortium plans to operate from Switzerland, taking advantage of that country's regulatory framework

The second most recognized bank in Spain, BBVA plans to integrate the sale of bitcoin and even other currencies into its service platform, benefiting the credit institution’s clients located throughout Europe.

According to the information published through a statement issued by the company, the new service will be offered from January 2021 and will operate from Switzerland in order to take advantage of the regulatory framework of that country.

So far it is known that the project will begin after the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) approves the operation of said activity.

According to reliable sources, BBVA began working about six months ago on the integration of SILO, a solution for custody and storage, developed by the banking software provider Avaloq and the crypto company Metaco.

However, this information has not been confirmed by any of these companies.
