The World Bank will be in charge of granting this loan, which arrives in order to face the consequences of the coronavirus

The World Bank will grant Argentina a total of $ 300 million between 2020 and 2021 for the coronavirus crisis.

This has been confirmed by the Government of Alberto Fernández after a videoconference meeting with the bank’s vice president, Axel van Trostsenburg. The objective of the game is to strengthen the social protection system and minimize the impact of the crisis on the most vulnerable sectors.

Specifically, the agency will give the country $ 165 million in 2020 and $ 135 million in 2021.

During the meeting, the representative of the Argentine Executive thanked the organization for the speed in the allocation of financing. “We are ready to work and satisfied by the close and similar look to ours on what is happening in the world”, said the Administration of Alberto Fernández.

The Argentine Government stresses that financial aid has been approved in record time, to help speed up the purchasing system in the face of the emergency of COVID-19 in the country. It is the first part of a series of credits that the World Bank will grant Argentina.

The project aims to reinforce the Project for the Protection of Children and Young People of the National Social Security Administration (ANSES in Spanish), to guarantee the inclusion of 350,000 children who have not yet been reached by the Universal Child Allocation (AUH) policy that the government carries on.
