Argentina has three lithium exporting companies

The South American country had two lithium exporting companies: Livent and Alkem. These have been joined by Minera Exar, with which mineral sales grow 40 %

Three lithium exporting companies in Argentina give a boost to exports to other countries. Livent, Alkem and, more recently, Minera Exar, are the pillars of this industry in the South American country.

In the first seven months of 2023, Argentina reached USD 491 million in lithium exports, which represents an increase of 41 % compared to the same period for the previous year.

The export of lithium acquires singular relevance at a time when the market is facing a crisis, particularly due to the technology sector in the United States and Asia. This is encouraging for the Argentine economy, where lithium came to represent 21 % of mining exports from January to July of this year. A period during which an accumulated increase of 10.7 % was registered.

It is expected that by the year 2025 the capacity of Argentina in terms of lithium production will allow the consolidation of the complex that is currently in 18th place, and it will occupy fifth place.

Most of the exports have the Argentina-China route to supply the valuable mineral to the lithium and electric battery producer in the Asian nation Gangfeng.
