Argentina expects 1.5 million foreign tourists

Argentina forecasts earnings of more than $1 billion during the winter season

The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Argentina, Matías Lammens, expressed his optimism regarding the winter season, anticipating the arrival of more than 5.5 million tourists, including 1.5 million international visitors. In addition, he pointed out that a significant economic impact of more than 1 billion dollars is expected due to the presence of foreign tourists.

Lammens highlighted the quality of the ski centers, equipped with world-class facilities, as well as the renovation of the hotels and the leading gastronomic offer in the region. According to the minister, Argentina is establishing itself as the gastronomic capital of South America, which represents a great attraction for tourists.

Lammens also highlighted that tourism has been one of the main drivers of registered employment in Argentina during the last 17 months, together with industrial activity and construction.

During the event, the Minister of Economy and presidential candidate, Sergio Massa, also spoke, emphasizing the importance of continuing to promote tourism as a way to generate foreign currency, strengthen reserves and achieve economic independence for the country.

Massa affirmed that each dollar collected contributes to the autonomy of Argentina. Given that the country’s economy faces significant macroeconomic imbalances, it seeks to increase income from tourism and exports of goods.

In the act, new services of the state airline Aerolíneas Argentinas were presented, as well as the destinations of the Natural Route and improvements in the transport infrastructure to optimize tourist services.
