Android 12 will incorporate the function of “double tap”

The new Columbus will allow to adjust the sensitivity so that it only recognizes firm blows on the back and can also be deactivated

The new Android 12 operating system is about tobe launched. Meanwhile, Google announced that it will incorporate the “double tap” feature, with which users can perform different actions by pressing twice in a row quickly on the back of the mobile.

A statement released by the company, details that this new function is designed for Pixel devices, in which by giving two quick touches on the back of the mobile, the user can perform a series of actions, such as “activate the Assistant, take a screenshot, stop or play audiovisual content, open a notification or view recent applications.”

Known under the code name “Columbus”, the double tap is the heir to a function that Google has already developed for Android 11, although at the time of the launch of the operating system the tool was not integrated into that version, despite appearing announcements prior to publication.

The company explained that, unlike the function developed for Android 11, the new Columbus will allow “adjusting the sensitivity so that it only recognizes firm blows on the back and can also be disabled.”
