Colombia implements special residence permit for Venezuelans

The Colombian migration service announced on Tuesday a plan to expedite the delivery of documents to Venezuelans in the country, and that allows them access to education, the banking system and employment

The Colombian migration service implemented a new plan to expedite the delivery of documents to Venezuelan citizens who have not yet obtained them. This is the Temporary Protection Permit, PPT in Spanish.

According to the statement, the PPT will allow Venezuelans who do not yet have the regulatory documents access to the education system, employment and the Colombian banking system.

Through its Twitter account, Migration Colombia published information about the process to access the PPT. The registration start date is March 10, and the plan comprises four steps described as: validate, download, register and collect. It is estimated that the entire process will end on April 30.

With this plan, Venezuelans will be able to “remain in Colombia legally and access services such as opening bank accounts, studies, work or affiliation to the social security system.”
