YouTube launches four-digit PIN to protect profiles

As a protective measure against strangers or friends, YouTube has launched a new four-digit PIN. This allows users to keep their search history and preferences private

YouTube users now have a new protection tool: a four-digit PIN that keeps information such as personalized recommendations, subscriptions, and search history private when the device is shared with others.

“Account lock allows each user to keep their YouTube for TV activity private. Once the code is set up, it will be required to access the account from the TV app,” particularly when the device is shared.

As the company has reported, once the user sets the code, they can also unlock their account from the YouTube mobile app. “When you select a blocked account on your TV, the app will display the option to enable access; those who have notifications enabled will also receive a push notification.”

Advantages of PIN lock

Undoubtedly, the PIN will prevent other people using the same TV from accessing the recommendations, subscriptions, and search history of a specific account. Furthermore, the tool allows each user to keep their experience separate on a shared device.

In addition, Google strengthens security by allowing you to view the devices where an account is “signed in” at google.com/devices. From there, you can remotely sign out of forgotten or unrecognized devices.

How to activate the lock:

Open the YouTube app on your TV and access your account from the left navigation menu.

-Select the “Account settings” button, below your profile.

Follow the on-screen instructions to activate the lock and set the four-digit code.
