Banks remain closed in Kabul

Since the arrival of the Taliban group, banking institutions have not been providing commercial service to their clients

The prices of goods have been gradually increasing in the Afghan capital, Kabul, whose banks have been closed since the arrival of the Taliban group last week.

According to information from the Afghan media, both banking institutions and the main currency exchange market, Sarai Shahzada, have not been serving customers since last week.

Through a statement issued on August 21, the market explained that, since the exchange of currencies depends directly on the Central Bank of the nation, it will remain closed until the entity decides to resume its operations.

ATMs are not operational either

Sources of the aforementioned portal indicated that the payment of salaries to officials and other employees of private organizations is paralyzed, which left thousands of people in limbo.

So far, the insurgents have not yet pronounced on the economic situation or their plans to reactivate the economy pending the configuration of a new government.
