Australia says bitcoin is not a fad

Australian Senator and Minister for Financial Services Jane Hume indicated that the government has no problem with citizens investing in digital assets

The Minister of Financial Services of Australia, Jane Hume, assured that from the government there is no obstacle for those who wish to invest in cryptocurrencies.

During the annual conference of the Association of Stock Brokers and Financial Advisors, the also senator indicated that digital assets are not “a passing fad” and that they will continue to grow.

“I would like to make something clear: cryptocurrency is not a passing fad. It is an asset class that will grow in importance,” Hume said.

These comments are part of the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s government’s approach to tackling the rise of new digital financial products and platforms.

The senator, for her part, will fight to avoid at all costs the existence of any type of restriction regarding the use and applicability of digital assets and others.
