Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona will be held between June 28 and July 1st, with a hybrid format, but Google will not attend the technological event.

Google decided “not to exhibit at Mobile World Congress this year” following its current travel restrictions and protocols due to Covid-19. As they explain in a statement sent to the media, they will maintain collaboration with both the GSMA, the MWC organizer, as with partners “through virtual opportunities.”

The tech giant is the latest firm to join a list of companies that have announced their withdrawal from the Barcelona event. The firts companies to do so were Nokia, Ericsson, Sony and Oracle.

GMSA announced its plans to hold a hybrid MWC, with a health plan that will guarantee the safety of the attendees, who must take a valid negative rapid test to access the venue and will have to repeat it every 72 hours.
