Mozilla prepared an appeal against disinformation

The creators of the Firefox browser developed a measure that seeks to show how social networks, and technological ones, combat this phenomenon

Mozilla, the consortium that develops Firefox, created a resource to make it easier for users to know what measure each social network and technology company applies to combat disinformation, and that includes data on Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok.

All technology companies have recently taken measures against misinformation on their platforms, especially with the proximity of the November presidential elections in the United States.

To make it easier for users to know which platforms each platform has taken and which ones not, Mozilla prepared in a graph the measures of Facebook, Instagram, the Google search engine, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok, which are “those that dominate the conversation” on the Internet .

The information collected comes mostly from public sources and from information distributed by the companies themselves, but in some cases they have contacted the companies to learn about their measures against misinformation.

The Mozilla document is organized into four main sections: limiting disinformation, transparency measures in electoral advertising, tools for consumers, and supporting research.
