Samsung launches chip to protect crypto transactions

The standalone security solution will also protect mobile banking and equity trading

The technology company Samsung announced the launch of a new chip called the Secure Element (SE) chip (S3FV9RR) accompanied by improved security software that seeks to protect tasks such as startup, isolated storage, mobile payment and other applications.

According to information supplied in a company press release, this new tool is certified by Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+, the highest level acquired by a mobile component.

According to Dongho Shin, Senior Vice President of Marketing for System LSI at Samsung Electronics, “In this era of mobility and contactless interactions, we expect our connected devices, such as smartphones or tablets, to be highly secure in protecting personal data and enabling activities of financial technology like mobile banking, stock trading and cryptocurrency transactions.”

He added that “with the new standalone security element solution (S3FV9RR), Samsung is mounting a powerful lock on smart devices to safeguard private information.”

In the press release it is detailed that the chip can work independently of the security performance of the main processor of the phone, “This makes the solution extremely versatile, expanding the security capabilities of mobile devices, IoT applications (Internet of Things) and other devices at all performance levels.”
