Nintendo, a Japanese company that produces and distributes video games and game consoles, registered an attributable net profit of 258.641 million yen (2.25 billion euros) in the whole of its fiscal year, ended in March, which is equivalent to an increase of 33.3 % when compared to the previous year, as reported by the firm.

Due to the results, Nintendo decided to raise the dividend that will be paid to its shareholders by 22.5 %. At the end of March, it estimated that the remuneration would be 890 yen per share (7.74 euros), although finally decided to raise the value to 1,090 yen (9.48 euros).

In the fiscal year as a whole, the video game developer posted a turnover of 1,308 billion yen (11,377 million euros). Most of that figure came from the sale of video games and consoles (mostly for Nintendo Switch), standing at 1,254 billion yen (10,908 million euros), 8.9 % more.

On the other hand, the income from mobile games and from the exploitation of its intellectual properties stood at 51,295 million yen (446.2 million euros), 11.5 % more.

Nintendo attributed the revenue increase to new releases it has made during the fiscal year. In the year, it released the “Lite” version of the Nintendo Switch, from which it managed to sell 6.19 million consoles of the 21.03 million units sold on that platform that it registered during the fiscal year.
