YouTube will improve security policies for US elections

The video network wants to avoid any scandal on the day the new president of the United States will be elected

YouTube, the video platform, announced new measures to protect political information during the US presidential elections in November.

The content network banned videos manipulated with potentially harmful material and artificial increase in visualization statistics.

In order to be “an open platform for sound political discourse”, YouTube shared in a statement its guidelines regarding deceptive practices focused on election campaigns.

In this section, technically manipulated videos of the candidates that may involve some type of damage, the contents with false information about the census or the voting process and the false statements about the legitimacy of the candidates are prohibited.

The content policies of the network also contemplate that the channels that impersonate other people, that lie about their origin or that manipulate their visualization statistics, likes or comments through automatic techniques will be eliminated.
