Hyundai and Uber make alliances to create an air taxi system

The agreement was signed during the CES consumer electronics fair that takes place these days in Las Vegas

The South Korean company Hyundai and the US shared travel firm, Uber, established alliances to develop an air taxi system that allows passengers to move from one point to another in an equivalent to today’s helicopters.

In the agreement it was established that the Hyundai company will be responsible for the manufacture of the vehicles, while Uber will provide the logistics so that the service can operate smoothly, connect the drivers with the passengers and manage the arrival and return of users in the helipads.

The first tests of the pilot plan are expected to be carried out this year in order to provide a complete service in 2023, managing to offer the community a 100% electric vehicle designed to reach 290 kilometers per hour and travel distances of up to 100 kilometers. Your travel capacity is short, not less than thirty minutes.

This idea has not only been innovative for both companies. Since July Uber was already operating a helicopter service called Uber Copter that connects the central New York island of Manhattan with one of the airports that serves the city, John F. Kennedy, with a price per service that varies from 200 to 225 dollars.

In addition, Uber Copter includes a car race from the client’s home to a helipad in the lower part of the island, from where the helicopter is taken on an eight-minute journey.
