Volkswagen works in the development of autonomous robots

The German company said that one of the main objectives is to address the problem in the charging stations for electric cars in public parking

The German automaker Volkswagen announced that it wants to address the problem of lack of charging stations for electric vehicles in public parking lots with the development of charging robots.

This type of robots, developed by the division of components of the German brand, would allow cars to be loaded quickly, being able to overcome the obstacles of a parking lot and move autonomously.

Although the technology is not yet ready for commercial launch, the head of development of the brand, Mark Möller, stressed that it is “a study that could quickly become a reality if the necessary basic conditions are met”.

In recent conversations between the automotive industry and the German authorities it became clear that the advancement of electric mobility in Germany will only be possible if the necessary infrastructure is rapidly expanded.

According to Volkswagen, autonomous charging robots could facilitate the difficult transition, at least in parking areas.
