Twitter implements function that hide answers

The function called "Hide Replies" may allow users to hide responses that are considered controversial or unpleasant

The US microblogging service, Twittertested a few months ago the Hide Replies function that aims to “keep a healthy conversation on the platform.” The application is about hiding answers that the user considers controversial or unpleasant in order to combat hate comments that bombard the social network.

Initially this function has been noted in users in Canada, the United States and Japan. In the Canadian Republic, 27% of the users who carried out tests, assured that the characteristic seems promising and expected to see the operation with a greater number of participants.

It is currently operational in all countries that are licensed for the use of the microblogging platform. However, some did not receive the update with pleasure, for example some users commented on things like: “What is the point of the people who hide Unwanted tweet responses if Twitter fills the screen with a giant pop-up window that draws attention to the fact that there are answers that have been hidden, that you can still click to see anyway?.”

Twitter pointed out that Hide Replies does not drastically eliminate responses but hides them in the background without leaving a trace of negative, violent or ill-intentioned comments.

The improvements to this feature are the removal of the notification that alerted users that the tweet had hidden responses and the blocking of responses that acts similarly to hiding YouTube comments. Regarding the innovation in the communication strategies of Twitter, the network assured that it continues working on a feature that will allow third-party developers to improve the function from the API.
