Norway will start futuristic city construction

On the surface of 1 million square meters will be promoted the construction of hotels, shops, recreational facilities and develop different logistic activities

Oslo Airport City (OAC) is the name of the futuristic project that will start in 2019 next to Gardermoen Airport, the largest in Norway and the second largest in Scandinavia.

The construction of the “City of the future” aims to provide better coverage of the OSL area and the city of Jessheim, which is experiencing increasing interest and strong development in both commercial establishments and residential construction.

Spokespeople from OSL explain that “airports are no longer built around major cities, now cities are built around airports“. Therefore, the promoters of the idea consider the development of the project necessary.

In an area of 1,000,000 square meters it’s expected that the construction of hotels, shops, offices, recreational facilities and different logistic and industrial activities will be developed. In addition, the new city will work with the renewable energy that it will produce itself, it will only have electric cars and the ecological technology will be used to keep carbon emissions from the city as low as possible.

The municipality of Ullensaker, which capital is Jessheim, is one of the fastest growing areas in Norway, both in terms of employment and population. Forecasts of Norway’s Central Bureau of Statistics predict growth over the next 15 years with an average demographic increase of 2.5% per year.
