USA could leave the WTO

US President Donald Trump issued this warning at an act held in Pittsburgh

The US president, Donald Trump, said Tuesday that his country could withdraw from the World Trade Organization (WTO) if it is forced to do so.

“We will leave if we have to”, Trump said in an act in Pittsburgh. “They have been squeezing us for years, but it will not happen anymore”, he stressed, adding that the United States does not need the WTO if it does not address the regulatory weaknesses that favor some countries.

“They come to certain countries, such as China, India, many countries, they see them as growing nations,” said the US president. “Well, they have already grown and have enormous benefits. We will no longer allow this to continue happening”, he warned.

Last summer, Trump said the WTO treated the United States “very badly” for years. And he had assured that if the organization “did not reform”, Washington could “withdraw”.
