USA and Canada will use blockchain to produce clean energy

The American energy company Ameren and the Canadian engineering and software solutions Opus One Solutions, study the use of blockchain technology to generate clean energy

American power company Ameren, in partnership with Canada’s Opus One Solutions – engineering and software solutions – plans to use blockchain technology to generate clean energy.

Ron Pate, senior vice president of operations and technical services for the Ameren Illinois subsidiary, said: “Identifying the value that locally distributed energy resources can provide to our distribution system and the customers it serves helps inform how and where customers should invest in clean renewable energy.”

In 2018, the Ameren company was among the 20 most important companies in the public utility sector of gas and electricity. Currently, it provides 900,000 and 2.4 million consumers respectively in the United States.

The objective of the company, in partnership with the Canadian Opus One Solutions, is to make the most of blockchain technology in its operations, although they have not announced how they intend to achieve it.

Other essays in this field include those of the company Marubeni, of Japan, that established an association with the blockchain company LO3 to increase the automation and optimize the efficiency of its renewable energy offer. Likewise, the Netherlands resorted in February of this year to the Internet of Things to establish an autonomous intelligent energy network.
