Brazilian soccer team launches cryptocurrency for its centenary

In conjunction with the Footcoin platform, the Fortaleza Esporte Clube of the National League Series B launched the León Coin, its own cryptocurrency

Last Thursday, spokespersons of Fortaleza Esporte Clube announced the launch of their own cryptocurrency to mark the centenary of the club’s founding. The currency was called Leon Coin (LEC) and is valued in a Brazilian real.

The initiative was considered as a way of strengthening the sports club belonging to the national B Series. With this, the club becomes the first to “liquidate, buy and sell products through a currency encrypted by the blockchain model”, as indicated by the Footcoin cryptocurrency platform.

In the words of the president of the Fortaleza, Marcelo Paz, the digital currency will allow greater transparency in donations and investments thanks to the decentralized system of blockchain technology.

The club’s assets are available for purchase by anyone, although the minimum transaction is R $ 50. There is no speculative market for this cryptographic currency, so the relation with the Brazilian real is 1 to 1.

José Rozinei da Silva, CEO of Footcoin, indicated that León Coin will provide benefits to sponsors, related companies, fans and the club.
