Millenium Mall in Caracas accepts dash to cancel parking

The unusual measure aims to facilitate the adoption of digital currency in Venezuela and become a payment mechanism that applies to this and many other services

The Milllenium Mall, located in eastern Caracas, added dash as a means of payment for the parking service. The measure aims to displace the use of fiat money in this type of mass services and facilitate transactions for users.

According to the company, dash payments will provide “relief in the fiat currency processing systems currently in force, where customers are forced to wait more than 60 minutes to leave the mall.”

To date, 697 payments are recorded from July 15th, only for parking, including two days in which there was a national blackout in Venezuela that interrupted the processing of other types of operations.

Parking payments with the cryptocurrency were incorporated into a mechanism that allows the shopping centers clients the use of the digital currency, ensuring that new users have both the way to acquire them and spend them in the same location, thus creating a kind of closed ecosystem.

For his part, Julio Daza general manager of the mall’s parking service said: “Modernizing payment options for our parking and internal business systems is great news, since the previous system does not work fast enough or does not work in absolute. We have found that dash is the best option in the market, mainly due to the speed and low cost of transactions.”
