Latam will invest US $ 300 million in Colombia

The Chilean-Brazilian airline announced on Monday that it will double its operations in the South American country in the next three years, as part of its expansion plan

Latam Airlines announced on Monday its expansion plan in Colombia with an investment of US $ 300 million over a period of three years, starting on July 1st of this year.

The Chilean-Brazilian company, which currently has a market share of 23% to be the second most important in South America, seeks to consolidate its presence in the Colombian market with a plan that “aims to stimulate demand to balance the local market and with this diversify the Colombian airline industry promoting higher levels of competition”.

This was announced by Roberto Alvo, commercial vice president of Latam, in the statement released in Santiago de Chile. The executive also added that they will focus on the routes between Bogotá, Cali, Medellín and Bucaramanga with an increase to 36 daily flights in total.

Likewise, Latam will renew the fleet of the subsidiary in the country, optimize the “Frequent Passenger” program, create 100 new jobs derived from the hiring of pilots, cabin crew and maintenance technicians.

The airline has subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru. It offers flights to 140 destinations in 24 countries, and has a fleet of 318 aircraft.
