YouTube is testing a sleep timer

YouTube users will soon have a new automatic shutdown feature using a timer to pause videos at a certain time

The YouTube video platform will include a new functionality that consists of a timer to pause videos after a certain time. Although for some it arrives late compared to other services, it will be useful for those who fall asleep watching a very long movie.

The “sleep timer that is able to pause the video after a certain period of time” is now available for Premium users. You can activate it from the “Settings” option and then “Try new experimental functions”.

There the option for the sleep timer function will be displayed so that the user can configure the video pause after, for example, “10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes or until the video ends.”

Once configured, you will see a pop-up window asking you to extend the timer if you wish.

YouTube’s experimental functionality for Premium users will be available in testing until September 2, from which date it is expected to be available for all users, including the free segment.
